The Indian Men’s Cricket Team has selected four spinners for the first two tests against England; however, Mohammed Shami, an accomplished fast bowler, is still not well enough to play. For the first two Tests, Dhruv Jurel, a wicketkeeper and batsman, has been called up for the first time to the Indian Test team.

A 15-member squad has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the first two Test matches of the series against England, which begins later this month. Uncapped Dhruv Jurel was selected for the squad, shockingly replacing Ishan Kishan in the process. The five-match Test series between India and England begins on Thursday, January 25. KL Rahul and KS Bharat are also available as wicketkeeper options for the Indian team.

On along with teammate pace bowler Prasidh Krishna (quad), Shami hopes to take part in the five-match series after it begins in Hyderabad on January 25. Right now, he’s recovering from an ankle injury.

Squad for first two Tests

S Gill, Y Jaiswal, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Virat Kohli, S Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), KS Bharat (wk), Dhruv Jurel (wk), and Rohit Sharma (C).

The batting lineup remains identical with Virat Kohli, Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill occupying the middle-order positions.

The team will be captained by experienced batter Rohit Sharma, with Jasprit Bumrah, a talented bowler, serving as vice captain. The Indian team now has KL Rahul, KS Bharat, and Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeepers.

They will play the first two games of the five-match series in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam as part of a 16-man squad that also includes all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.
