January 15, 2024, will be the 72nd Army Day celebration in India, The establishment of the Indian Army and the revolutionary change in leadership. This celebration holds tremendous significance as it celebrates the 1949 shift of leadership from General Sir Francis Butcher to General KM Cariappa, an important point in the army’s history since it saw the installation of the first Indian commander-in-chief of Indian Army.

Why Is Army Day Celebrated Each Year?

This historic handover of leadership symbolised the newborn nation’s unreserved commitment to independence and its willingness to secure its boundaries with its own brave sons and girls.

India celebrates Indian Army Day, a day of great significance, on January 15 of each year. The ceremony is much more than just a formal occasion; it honors the nation’s brave warriors’ unreserved commitment and remembers a significant turning point in its history.

The Cariappa parade Ground in the Delhi Cantonment was the site of the Army Day procession from 1949 to 2022. Every year, the marching contingents who participate in the Republic Day Parade undergo inspection by the Chief of Army Staff.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is organizing the celebration this year

On Army Day, we honor the warriors who have given their lives in service to our country.

In this celebration of Army Day of 2024, There will be a military band consisting of five regimental brass bands, three pipe bands, and six marching contingents from the various Army regiments will take part.

In Lucknow, Governor Anandi Ben Patel, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be present as chief guests at the parade ground.

There will be six regimental marching contingents, three pipe bands, and a military band made up of five regimental brass bands and 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental under the supervision of command of Major General Salil Seth

Five Regimental Brass Bands- – Sikh Light Regiment  Kumaon Regimental , Bihar Regimental  Grenadier Regimental , & Punjab Regimental 

Army head General Manoj Pande will review the parade and present bravery medals, which will be followed by an exciting motorbike performance by the Army Service Corps (ASC) Tornadoes, a skydiving performance by the Soldiers, daring sprints, and an aerial past by of helicopters of the Army Air Regiment.
